Silver used in jewelry is traditionally sterling silver, which is a combination of 92.5 % silver and 7.5% copper. Sterling silver is harder than pure silver but tarnishes when exposed to air for any length of time. Still, for bracelets, silver is highly desirable because it can be polished to a high shine.
