Platinum Diamond Bracelets

Platinum is a grayish-white corrosion-resistant metal.  It is outstanding for jewelry because it is wear and tarnish resistant. However, it is difficult to work with because it requires a higher melting temperature and must be combined with an expensive alloy to shape.  Because of its rarity, platinum is more expensive than gold, usually about twice the price. 

Nevertheless, by the beginning of the 20th century, most diamond ring mountings and most exclusive bracelets were made of platinum rather than silver.
